1. How do solar panels stand up to hail?
They are required to withstand golf ball sized hail at 50 mph, but most exceed that minimum requirement.
2. Will my insurance rates go up when I install solar panels?
Rates may stay the same or go up slightly. It’s best to check with your agent to be sure.
3. After the warranty expires, am I on my own?
After the 12-year labor warranty, we will charge a regular hourly service fee for any system troubleshooting/fixes.
4. What if lightning strikes my solar panels?
All units are installed to UL standards and are well grounded. Lightning strikes are not covered by the warranty so check with your insurance agent.
5. Do I need to replace my roof before the solar panels are installed?
If your roof is more than 10 years old, you may want to consider replacing at least the section of roof
where the solar panels will be. (This would be considered preparation for solar and should also qualify for the federal tax incentive, consult your CPA for further information.)
6. What if I need to replace my roof after the panels are installed?
We will remove the panels at the regular hourly service fee. We will replace them after the roof is repaired for the same hourly fee.
7. What if my roof leaks after the panels are installed?
We provide a 12-year no leak guarantee on any penetrations made at the time of installation.
8. How does the 25-year warranty relate to the life of the solar panels?
The production warranty states that the panels will produce at least 80% of the standard test condition value even after the warranty expires. Most actually do better.
Installing solar panels is a long-term investment with a better return than your IRA. You’re not just paying an electric bill anymore; you’re investing money into your future. Governmental regulations are forcing utility prices up. You can lock in your electricity price now by choosing solar. Solar power also adds value to your home. Homes with solar panels statistically have increased property values and sell higher.
As the price of energy rises, many residential and commercial property owners are exploring alternatives. Solar is proving to be the most financially beneficial and enduring option for southwest Missouri.
Federal income tax credits are also available for solar systems. These tax credits are not deductions, but rather lower your tax liability dollar-for-dollar and equal 30% of your final cost basis. Commercial installations may also qualify for grant money in lieu of the credits. Skywire Electrical Systems has the knowledge and experience to advise you on your solar panel installation and we are licensed and certified at the highest level of certification.
With the plentiful sunshine in the Ozarks, most homeowners can easily tap into this abundant energy source with solar power systems. All that is needed is adequate roof space for residential solar panel systems in a generally south-facing orientation. Although direct southern exposure is optimal for residential solar, southwest or southeast are almost as good. Even east or west facing residential solar systems can capture enough sunlight for electricity generation and sound investment returns.
Shading is a critical factor to consider when positioning your solar energy system. Trees, and even the shadow of a utility pole can diminish the output of residential solar panels. Trimming or cutting down trees that cast even a brief shadow will vastly improve the output of residential solar energy systems. Let us determine whether your property is appropriate for residential solar power.
Step 1: Assessment
Once you decide to go solar, there are several steps to take before the actual solar panel installation. The first thing we do is analyze your past year’s energy usage. We use your previous 12 months of electricity bills to determine your total kilowatt-hours, allowing us to account for seasonal variations. Then, we implement our unique efficiency-first approach that has the potential to save you thousands of dollars on your solar energy system. We identify cost effective ways to lower your energy usage and suggest improvements that will be energy saving. This allows us to build the solar power installation that is just right for you, maximizing your savings in energy and money.
option 1a: Energy audit
Want to maximize your investment in a solar system? An energy audit can provide a detailed analysis of where your home is wasting energy. This allows you to make home improvements that can increase your solar investment for minimal cost
Step 2: Installation
Once the materials arrive on site, our team of solar panel installation experts is ready to install your solar energy system. The timeline to complete installation depends upon the size and complexity of your system, but it can take as few as three days. Once this phase of the work is complete, at least two inspections are required. The first is by your local Department of Building and Safety. The second is completed by your utility company. Upon completion of the utility inspection and receipt of your new meter, your system can be turned on to generate electricity. Skywire Electrical Systems submits all final documentation.
Step 3: Monitoring
Once your system is installed, we provide regular monitoring and system checks to make sure your system is performing at its highest level. As we analyze the data from your systems we will make any necessary tweaks to make sure your system is running at peak performance. You will get decades of reliable, clean electricity production from your solar panel installation. The addition of environmentally friendly solar power to your home or business is just one step in sustainable living.
When you hire Skywire Electrical Systems LLC, you are hiring master electricians and electrical technicians who specialize in the best solar systems available at competitive prices. Here are a few of the other services that we are able to offer our solar clients:
Automatic Back-Up Generators

Back-Up Skywire Solar Generator
Invented and developed by our owner, the Skywire Solar Generator provides you the comfort of knowing your home will have power without the need to burn fossil fuels.
Although Battery Back-up for your solar system is the most costly, it provides continuous storage of the power that your system produces, allowing you to utilize clean energy even when your solar system is not performing at optimum levels. The need for a Battery Back-Up System is lessened with an Enphase Micro Inverter System given its ability to shift loads. But, if you are dedicated to a fully clean energy solution this may be the option for you.
LED Lighting Conversions
LED light bulbs are the more energy efficient and environmentally sound option for lighting your home. Most fixtures allow for use of any bulb, however, some need to be converted. We are happy to assess your needs.
Whole-house e-monitoring system
Track in real-time how your home is utilizing solar power. The system will send you automatic alerts if a problem arises. This system is ideal for the consumer who is serious about controlling their energy consumption. You'll know exactly where every penny of your utility bill is going.
